Fourteen years ago, Dany Rizk faced a life-altering diagnosis: Retinitis Pigmentosa, a genetic condition that progressively affected his vision. Initially overwhelmed by anxiety and fear, he wondered how he would care for his newborn child and maintain his independence.

Dany’s journey was challenging. Leaving home at fifteen to attend the prestigious United World College instilled a sense of self-reliance. However, as his vision deteriorated, everyday tasks became increasingly difficult, leading him to pause his career as a web developer.

With the help of rehabilitation services, Dany learned to navigate this new reality. Initially resistant to identifying as visually impaired, he found support through a social worker who guided him on his path to acceptance. A turning point came with the arrival of his first guide dog, Mickey, whose companionship helped Dany embrace his new identity.

Completing his rehabilitation not only restored Dany’s independence but ignited a passion for helping others. He pursued advanced studies in Vision Rehabilitation and Vision Science, preparing himself to assist those facing similar challenges.
